Newly selected Parliamentary Candidate, Paul Zukowskyj, has today responded to Hertfordshire County Council's consultation, suggesting that the New Barnfield site is excluded from further consideration on the grounds that is immediately next to the Southdown Special Needs School.

Paul commented "This site is unacceptable, given the location of the school. Any pollution incident cannot fail to affect the school-children, and having waste trucks roaring past the entrance to the school is asking for a nasty accident. Why on Earth are the council even considering this site, when their documents highlight a much more appropriate location at the Roehyde site just off the A414/A1(M) roundabout?

Roehyde has better access, is away from housing, and the extra traffic/pollution will not endanger large numbers of children. It's clearly the best site for residents, the environment and for the users of the facility"

A submission by Paul has been made identifying these concerns and indicating his opposition to any Waste Facility development at New Barnfield.
