Councillor Tony Skottowe's District Council Webpages

Your Liberal Democrat Councillor in Handside My key concern for the ward is to protect the unique character that distinguishes it from other towns. Other main areas of interest are the environment, I am a member of the RSPB and Herts & Middlesex Wildlife Trust, and so concerned about saving our natural resources and reducing human impact on our climate. Recycling is a major issue for many Handside residents and many of you will know that Liberal Democrats have organised regular plastics collections.

Welwyn Garden City Heritage

Welwyn Garden City (WGC), as its name suggests, is a garden city, founded by Sir Ebenezer Howard in the 1920s following his previous experiments in Hampstead Garden Suburb and Letchworth Garden City, and designed by Louis de Soissons. This site is therefore dedicated to the protection and celebration of the heritage of Welwyn Garden City and to provide a rallying point for all those interested in its heritage. The ideas behind this were the brainchild of Tony Skottowe, Liberal Democrat District Councillor for Handside Ward, helped by local residents.
